1. Settling in

Have a Restful and Relaxing July 4th holiday
We’re slowly settling into Decatur, Georgia, a step at a time. The unpacking is slow, the new rhythms slower still, but the Lord is kind in the small mercies of a new place.
Our new home is a refreshing and delightful spot — a farmhouse on a half-acre wooded lot in “Midway Woods,” only a mile from kids, grands, church, and town. Delightful is the right word.
We’re loving our time with our son, Scott, daughter-in-love, Jennifer, and the granddaughters. We’ve also come to love their church, All Souls Fellowship, of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) tribe — and we’re surprisingly comfortable with the liturgical tradition and the deep sense of worship each week.
And here’s the quiet headline: my breathing is normal at night. O2 levels normal at night. I’m sleeping better than I have in over two decades. No machines, no supplemental oxygen, all a blessing. The move itself, it turns out, has been part of the medicine.
The Nicene Creed book, the columns for “Colorado Family Physician” and “Today’s Christian Living”, the YouVersion devotional series, the investigation into upgrading my father’s Distinguished Service Cross to a Medal of Honor, and a bit of insurance consulting all continue — just at a slower, more relaxed pace. Which feels right for this season.

2. New Devotional Series, “The Intentional Life,” continues

My YouVersion series, The Intentional Life: 120 Days to Clarity, Calling, and a Life That Lasts, continues to roll out about twice a month. It’s free on the YouVersion App and consists of twelve 10-day devotionals.
I wrote this series for the reader who senses that their days are slipping by faster than their purpose is forming; the reader who wants their time, steps, relationships, and calling to actually mean something. 10 Days to Perseverance, Integrity, and a Life Well Lived
Whether you’re just beginning to seek clarity or you’ve been walking with God for decades, these devotionals are designed to meet you where you are and gently lead you forward, one day, one step, one surrender at a time. You can learn more or sign up for free here.

3. Three more early endorsements for my next book, The Creed

I was so happy to receive three more early endorsements for my next scheduled book, a devotional based upon the Nicene Creed, tentatively titled, The Creed: 35 Devotions for Understanding and Living the Authentic Christian Faith. Each is from a different corner of the Christian writing world: seminary president, Christian ministry, and theology professor. I could not be more grateful:
The Nicene Creed has been receiving renewed attention recently, with benefit to all believers. It properly emphasizes the deity of Christ—essential to our salvation. This engaging devotional is an excellent introduction, affirms our beliefs, and guides us into a more enlightened faith. To borrow from Augustine, “Tolle lege”—“Take up and read.” — Luder G. Whitlock, Jr., DMin, DD, Former President and Professor, Reformed Theological Seminary, Minister at large, First Presbyterian Church of Orlando
Is it possible to get excited about an ancient Church creed? For readers of this book, the answer will be an enthusiastic “yes” as Walt Larimore explores the rich depths of the Nicene Creed and points them to the timeless, life-changing scriptural truths contained within. — Jim Daly, President, Focus on the Family, Colorado Springs, CO
Walter Larimore has written a poignant and powerful series of devotionals that take us through the Nicene Creed. But this is not stale dogma or Christ-less creeds. It is a symphony of spiritual devotion, rooted in Scripture, touching key people and events of church history, and invites us to know God better and love him with all our heart, mind, and soul. — Rev. Dr. Michael F. Bird, PhD, Deputy Principal, Ridley College, Melbourne, Australia

4. Last month’s happenings
-
No travel. We’re still getting settled, getting the yard in shape, and I’ve enjoyed significant time with family, reading, and writing.
-
June 12-19. Barb’s sister Sue, Sue’s daughter Laura, and our daughter Kate were here visiting and helping with final home decorating (hanging pictures, placing knick-knacks, and so on). We had such a wonderful time with them.
