1. We’ve moved to Georgia and our Colorado Home is under contract!

Since last month’s newsletter, we traveled to Decatur to house hunt, and te most interesting events took place.

Barb fell in love, from the outside, with a home we had seen when house shopping last fall. It was not on the market, and our relator said the couple that had built it 10 years ago loved it and had no plans to move.

Well, just before our return trip, we learned the couple had decided to put their home on the market. We toured it, loved it, and made an offer before it even went on the market.

They accepted our offer, we closed on April 3, and we moved in on April 17 (and are still moving in!).

Our house here in Colorado Springs was re-staged and put back on the market just a few weeks ago. And your prayers for it to be sold were answered. We received a contract just this week and closing is scheduled for early June.

Also, thanks to all of you who prayed for wisdom, guidance, and safety as we moved and for the perfect family to buy our Colorado home. Your prayers were all abundantly answered. We’re grateful.

2. Congressional Letter about my father, Philip B. Larimore, Jr. (and other WWII amputees)

For those of you who have read At First Light: A True World War II Story of a Hero, His Bravery, and an Amazing Horse, an amazing circumstance has arisen.

Some staff of my Colorado Congressman, Jeff Crank, have read the book and were concerned that dad may have been passed over for consideration for the Medal of Honor due to military and cultural discrimination against Army officers who were amputees.

He and several of his colleagues have penned a bicameral and bipartisan letter to the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, to request a formal investigation in this. Here’s that letter:

Mary Shinn of the Colorado Springs Gazette penned an article about this titled, “After losing limbs, WWI and II vets may not have received deserved Medals of Honor; lawmakers call for review,” that you can read here.

I’d like to ask you to join me in praying the Secretary will authorize this investigation and that any and all WWII veterans who were amputees and officers, that were “passed over” due to their major limb loss, will be appropriately remembered and honored (all of them posthumously).

3. Sweet note from the publisher about my next book, The Creed

My next book, and my first with Whitaker, is tentatively titled, The Creed: 35 Devotions for Understanding and Living the Authentic Christian Faith and is scheduled for release next March. The book is now undergoing its first edit (called a developmental edit).

I was blessed to receive this note from the owner and publisher of Whitaker House, Christine Whitaker. If I’m not mistaken, her father founded the publishing house.

Dear Mr. Larrimore,

Welcome to the Whitaker House family of authors! I know you have had such a long and fruitful career as a writer, and we are so grateful to work with your latest book on the Nicaean Creed.

I am a history major and have always been interested in the development of the Christian Church. We sometimes do not appreciate all the struggle and thought that was put into the exact wording of these creeds to simplify and synthesize the core tenants of our faith.

In some ways today, the world and faith seem to be more complicated with all of the information available to us, so I very much value your wisdom in this teaching line by line allowing us to really process the core of the Gospel.

There is such wisdom in this creed developed by a faithful Church understanding Scripture and ways to keep this relatable to the lay believer.

I just wanted to send you a note to say thank you for all your work on developing The Creed manuscript and the wonderful foreword you secured from Ruth Graham as well as the great endorsements.

We will be looking to release this book in Spring/Summer 2027 (May-August) so if you can bear with us as we plan for this book we will be working to have all of the publishing details ready by October of this year when we present this book to our internal team to begin presenting to the wider retail world.

I was just reading [chapter] 25 entry on “The Lord, the Giver of Life.” I stand with you in these affirmations:

“Living the Creed: Recognize total dependence. You didn’t create yourself physically or spiritually. Every heartbeat is borrowed. Every breath is grace.”

I can boldly affirm Whitaker House would not be here without God’s grace and provision.

“Expect ongoing transformation. The life-giver doesn’t give life and walk away. He continues working, growing, sanctifying.”

The beauty of Christian books is we always need them as the Christian walk is a journey of continual transformation and sanctification. So thank God for you and the resources to help us on this journey.

“Live in the Spirit’s power. You can’t manufacture spiritual fruit or muster resurrection life. The life-giver supplies what you cannot create.”

Whitaker House has always had a focus on the Holy Spirit, and He is someone we depend on to empower us to walk out this journey.

“Hope in resurrection. Death is not the final word.”

Eternal Amen.

“Honor all life. The Spirit gives life; therefore, every life is sacred—from conception to natural death, in health and disability, in youth and aging.”

I honor your life Walt and all lives that will be touched by these words. Thank God for his breath into our dry bones.

Thank you for walking out this Creed in your own faith and sharing all of this wisdom and teaching with readers.

I am grateful to call you brother in Christ. In Grace and Love,

Christine Whitaker, Publisher

Of the 41 books I’ve written or co-written, this is the very first time I’ve received such a letter. Color me grateful.
