1. We’re moving!

Since last month’s newsletter, we traveled to Decatur to house hunt. The most interesting event took place.
Barb fell in love, from the outside, with a home we had seen when house shopping last fall. It was not on the market, and our relator said the couple that had built it 10 years ago loved it and had no plans to move.
Well, just before our return trip, we learned the couple had decided to put their home on the market. We toured it, loved it, and made an offer before it even went on the market.
They accepted our offer, and we’ll be moving there in a couple of weeks.
Our house here in Colorado Springs has been re-staged and is back on the market here. Prayers would be appreciated for wisdom, guidance, and safety as we move and for the perfect family to buy our Colorado home.

2. Update on The Creed

My next book, tentatively titled, The Creed: 35 Devotions for Understanding and Living the Authentic Christian Faith, is scheduled for release next March. The book is now undergoing its first edit (called a developmental edit).
I must confess that this project has been uniquely meaningful to me. In over three decades of writing—covering everything from medical and health topics to family and marriage ministry to novels and curricula—I’ve never experienced the combination of intellectual challenge and spiritual growth that this book has provided.
Therefore, my hope and prayer is that this book will not only ground others in the historic, biblical faith that has sustained believers for over 1,700 years but will lead them to live the creed in ways that transform both their walk with Jesus and their witness to others.
I believe The Creed represents the kind of substantive, accessible theological work that can serve the church for years to come. At least that’s my prayer.

3. Beta readers praise The Creed

The early feedback from those who were kind enough to serve as beta readers and technical/theological reviewers of the manuscript has been uniformly positive. This is such an encouragement for me.
I love the work you’ve done here. Well done! — Del Tackett, PhD, Former Executive Vice President, Focus on the Family, Co-founder of Geneva Theological Seminary
This devotional is a powerful resource for parish pastors. I’d welcome it for adult education classes, Lenten or summer sermon series, weekly online teaching, or personal devotion and prayer. It’s informative, hopeful, personal, and inspirational. I especially appreciated the reflection and simple steps at each chapter’s end, moving from excellent theology to personal application. The book builds logically, chapter by chapter, creating anticipation for the next phrase of the Creed. Chapter 10 on “for us and our salvation” will preach! — Rev. Dr. Robert Stelter, MDiv, ThD, Senior Pastor, Faith Lutheran Church, Knoxville, TN
A remarkable work. I’m deeply impressed by the depth of research you’ve brought to the church fathers and their commitment to safeguarding the Holy Scriptures. Your structure is incredibly effective—clear, well-organized, and enriched with practical steps to internalize and apply the truths you present. And bite size bodies of text. It makes complex theology accessible without sacrificing depth. Your handling of the Nicene Creed, especially amid its potential divisive theological terrain, reflects both courage and humility. You’ve navigated it with grace, inviting readers into a spirit of unity and reverence. Above all, I pray this book reaches those who’ve yet to grasp the full wonder of Christ’s grace at Calvary. Your gentle, scriptural guidance leads readers into the freedom and fullness of life God intends. — Jody Crain, Asian church planter and cultural consultant with Ethnos 360
This material was an unexpected blessing. I expected to be bored by historical details, having recited the Creed mindlessly for years as mere liturgy. But the book brings it alive! Every chapter opens a gateway to fresh appreciation for the Trinity’s work and the Nicene Council’s role in preserving truth from heresy. It’s an unexpected treasure that deepens worship, Scripture love, and gratitude for the Creed’s defense of the Trinity. A true encouragement to faith. — Allan Harmer, ThM, DMin, Former Regional Director, Christian Medical and Dental Associations
The book gathers critical devotional and theological insights in one place. I’ll recommend it to pastors, teachers, my online Bible study group, Facebook friends, and more. It’s an excellent guide for small groups or Sunday School, and a great companion (sequel or prequel) to Packer’s Concise Theology. Highly valuable for deepening faith through the Creed. — Sid Webb, DMin, Author, speaker, nonprofit leader, pastor
This is a really good book. The devotional format works well, and the writing is highly accessible. The chapters are very engaging and drew me in. Well done. — Kurt Bruner, MA Theology, EVP, Open Doors; Former Vice President, Focus on the Family
This isn’t just another book on the Nicene Creed. It’s 35 chapters of profound yet accessible theology from a physician-author with 40+ years of medical wisdom and a pastor’s heart. It blends serious theology with personal stories, pastoral warmth, ecumenical sensitivity, and practical applications that help people live the faith. Most importantly, it will equip thousands (maybe tens of thousands) of Christians to understand and love what they confess. This is a real gift to the church. — Anonymous Theologian
