Wonderful news – “At First Light” earns three top prizes at the 2023 International Page Turner Awards

I was stunned! Out of over 2500 books that were nominated for judging in the 2023 International Page Turner Awards (from London), my WWII book about my father’s heroics and exploits, At First Light: A True World War II Story of a Hero, His Bravery, and an Amazing Horse, received three of the top awards.

Here are the awards and announcements:

(1) 2023 Best Book Award — Non-Fiction: Walt Larimore won The Page Turner Non-Fiction Book Award for his submission, At First Light.

(2) 2023 Best Book Award by Genre — True Stories: Walt Larimore won The Page Turner Best Book Award in the Genre True Stories for his submission, At First Light.

(3) 2023 Best Book Award by a “Golden Author:” Walt Larimore won The Page Turner Golden Author Award for his submission, At First Light.

I was disappointed that they only listed me and not Mike Yorkey, but they said that they only list the first author. If you’re not aware of the book, you can learn more here.

Dear Dr. Walt: I just finished reading your book “At First Light”! I absolutely loved the book and could hardly put it down! I, like so many, didn’t know much about the invasion through Italy and then into France so this was most informative and fascinating. I loved the detail, even conversations… it made me feel as though I was listening to the men strategize. I appreciated the “army talk” … you probably cleaned up the language a little, but it was so authentic. The bravery of the men reminded me of why they are called “The Greatest Generation”. I was grateful that you made it very realistic yet you didn’t glorify war and cruelty. In honoring your father in this way you make him a hero, not only for you and your family, but to all the rest of us as well. Thank you for your years of research and hard work in making this book available to us. God bless you for your work on the book and all the other efforts you make to help us live better lives.

    • Ray,

Thanks for the kind words and blessing … they are very much appreciated and are an encouragement and affirmation for me. Also, if you’re willing to rate the book on a few internet sites, that would be a GREAT favor. Just email me at waltlarimore@aol.com and I’ll send you some tips and links. Thanks for considering this. I hope you and yours have a warm, memory-creating, family-filled holiday season and a Blessed New Year.

      Walt
