New research shows that the most common COVID-19 variants have symptoms very similar to the common cold AND VERY DIFFERENT from previous stains of COVID.

The updated list of primary symptoms for COVID-19 currently reported by participants from the ZOE Health Study (a joint effort by researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital, the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, King’s College London, Stanford University School of Medicine, and the health app ZOE) shows they have changed since the emergence of new variants.

In addition, the most common symptoms occur in ALL individuals with COVID-19, with some variation depending on vaccination status.

• FULLY VACCINATED AND BOOSTED
  • Sore throat
  • Runny nose
  • Blocked nose
  • Persistent cough
  • Headache
• PARTIALLY VACCINATED
  • Headache
  • Runny nose
  • Sore throat
  • Sneezing
  • Persistent cough
• UNVACCINATED
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • Runny nose
  • Fever
  • Persistent cough

Here are the most common symptoms occurring in most people with COVID despite vaccine status:

• A sore throat,
• runny or blocked nose,
• headache, and
• a persistent cough.
