I’m over the moon and delighted to share with you some great news. My father and my hero, MAJ Philip B. Larimore, Jr., was inducted into the U.S. Army’s 3rd Infantry Division’s Marne Hall of Fame at Fort Stewart Georgia on August 1, 2023.

I’m told that his election was, “By unanimous vote of the Command Staff of the 3rd Infantry Division.” This is a singular honor that’s been awarded to only a few soldiers such as Audie Murphy and some of the 3rd ID commanding generals. I was also told that Dad will be inducted along with General Dwight D. Eisenhower and General George C. Marshall – pretty good company if I don’t say so — along with two of his commanding generals, General John W. “Iron Mike” O’Daniel and General Lionel C. McGarr.
My brothers (Billy, Phil, and Rick) and some of Dad’s grandchildren (Kate and Scott) along with some family and friends were there to honor his memory. Although the audio is not good, you can see a video of the induction of General Eisenhower, General Marshall, and Dad here. The 3rd ID PR folks wrote this:
U.S. Army Spc. Jakeline Gomez, assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division, presents a Marne Division Hall of Fame poster with Family of 1st Lt. Philip Bonham Larimore at the 3rd ID headquarters, Fort Stewart, Georgia, Aug. 1, 2023. Larimore’s heroic actions, bravery and devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and the 3d ID, and the United States Army.

Walt/Barb, What a singular honor and to be inducted with General/President Eisenhower and General George Marshall. Whoa!! Such a wonderful albeit belated tribute but so well deserved.
How many of all of our troops over all of these years have achieved that distinct honor? So wonderful that your book brought this all to light!
