If your gift is giving, then give generously

In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor. … In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity.

You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. … Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.

Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same. … Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need. … Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. … Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
