Do Not Be Afraid – 1

The Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”

That night the Lord appeared to (Isaac) and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bless you and will increase the number of your descendants for the sake of my servant Abraham.”

And God spoke to Israel in a vision at night and said, “Jacob! Jacob! … I am God, the God of your father,” he said. “Do not be afraid.”

Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today … The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” … Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning.”

Joshua … said to the entire Israelite assembly, … “If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. … Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them.”

Do not be afraid of anyone, for judgment belongs to God. … Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

I am comforted by this devotion. All around me are situations that are causing me to fear. I have the shingles, my beloved husband of 52 years has dementia. My friend cancer, another a stroke. I need encouragement! Thank you and may God bless you and Barbara.
