The 30 Most Important Questions God Is Asking You
October 4, 2026This month:
- Barb and I Are Walking for a Cancer Cure—and Every Gift Is Doubled
- A New Title—and Two Wonderful Endorsements for We Believe
- The response to my “God’s love” devotional continues to surprise
- Two more “The Intentional Life” devotionals released

It’s great to have the sale of our Colorado Springs home behind us and to feel the weather finally beginning to cool. We’ve loved opening our new Decatur farmhouse to the fresh air and sitting on our screened-in back porch in the mornings and evenings.
We’re even planning a few one- to three-day road trips around Atlanta to get to know our new corner of the country. And with two giant pandas arriving at Zoo Atlanta last week, we already have one destination on the list!
It should be a delightful introduction to our first autumn in the South in more than 25 years. There seems to be much to be grateful for as we begin October.
1. Barb and I Are Walking for a Cancer Cure—and Every Gift Is Doubled

This Saturday, October 3, Barb and I will lace up our walking shoes for theWinship 5K in Atlanta. Every step raises money for cancer research at Emory’s Winship Cancer Institute, Georgia’s only National Cancer Institute–designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The response so far has been remarkable. The Winship 5K has raised more than $900,000 toward its $1 million goal, and our own Team Larimore has passed $12,000.
And here’s some wonderful news: A generous donor has offered to match every new gift to Team Larimore, dollar for dollar, up to $4,000. Even better, 100 percent of every tax-deductible donation goes directly to cancer research—there is no administrative fee.

2. A New Title—and Two Wonderful Endorsements for We Believe

Most of you know I’ve spent the past year writing a devotional book based on the Nicene Creed. I turned the manuscript in to my publisher on August 1, and the editing process is now underway. And we now have the title: We Believe: Walking Line by Line Through the Nicene Creed.
The feedback from my technical and theological advisors—and from nearly twenty endorsers—has been wonderfully encouraging. Here are two of the most recent:
Most people think of creeds as those monotone recitations from church, repeated so often that it’s easy to become numb to their profound truths. That’s about to change. In the hands of Dr. Walt Larimore, one of America’s greatest storytellers, the Nicene Creed blazes back to life. In We Believe, Dr. Walt weaves together moving stories of his years as a family doctor with Scripture and a sense of wonder to produce what is now my favorite study tool on the creed that changed the course of the Church, and thus history.
— Jeff Myers, PhD, President, Summit Ministries
For generations, believers have recited the Nicene Creed as a confession of what we believe. In our current age of cultural confusion and moral ambiguity, we have lost our understanding and certainty of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. Walt Larimore takes us back to the unchanging truths that unite us and anchor us in our faith. This is a much-needed reminder of our roots, and it calls us back to the very core of our faith. This is not a work written for scholars and academics only. It is a practical reinforcement and encouragement for all of us as individuals. Jesus’ last prayer for us was that we would be united. Read and be reminded of all the truths that do exactly that!

3. The response to my “God’s love” devotional continues to surprise

I’m grateful for the opportunity to write devotionals for the free app, YouVersion. “What the Bible Says About God’s Love,” is a 10-day devotional that has become the fastest-growing of the over two dozen YouVersion devotional plans I’ve released.
It was released August 12, and in less than seven weeks, more than 9,000 people in 135 countries have subscribed. It still carries a 4.8 rating, and almost half of those who subscribed have already completed all ten days.
Some of the recent comments include:
- The devotionals were amazing and reinforced God’s love for us. I found myself going back over them multiple times. (United States)
- I was able to discover the magnitude of God’s love to me. This plan did it for me! (Nigeria)
- Simply majestic reminders of God’s abundant love! (Australia)
- Assuring us that God is eternally faithful and His love for us is unfathomable (South Africa)
- Brings out true nature and character of God. I have been refreshed. (Kenya)
- Very approachable. Insightful. Finished it experiencing a deeper level of understanding and knowing God’s love (United States)
Reading comments like these—from believers around the world—is deeply encouraging. What a privilege it is to see God use a simple 10-day devotional to remind people just how deeply they are loved by Him.

4. Two more “The Intentional Life” devotionals released

My YouVersion devotional series, The Intentional Life: 120 Days to Clarity, Calling, and a Life That Lasts, continues to release about twice each month. The free series consists of twelve 10-day reading plans available on the YouVersion Bible App.
Two additional plans were released in September:
9. A Life That Outlasts You – 10 Days to Legacy, Devotion, and Eternal Perspective – September 1
10. Invest in Others – 10 Days to Mentoring, Encouragement, and Spiritual Reproduction – September 15
I wrote this series for the reader who senses that their days are slipping by faster than their purpose is forming; the reader who wants their time, steps, relationships, and calling to actually mean something.
Whether you’re just beginning to seek clarity or you’ve been walking with God for decades, these devotionals are designed to meet you where you are and gently lead you forward, one day, one step, one surrender at a time. You can learn more or sign up for free here.
Ten plans have now been released, with the final two coming out this month:
11. Finish Well – 10 Days to Perseverance, Integrity, and a Life Well Lived – October 1
12. Fully Surrendered – 10 Days to Rest, Surrender, and Living Fully for God – October 15
5. Last month’s happenings
- September 5–10: Charles and Kate flew in from Colorado Springs. We enjoyed a wonderful week of family time, worship, meals, conversation, and simply catching up.
- Our medical checkups went well, too, with no new issues or concerns. We’re grateful!
- September 17: Scott surprised us with an evening at Hamilton at Atlanta’s historic Fox Theatre. What a fun family evening!
- September 21–30: Barb and I relaxed and recharged during our annual vacation at Pensacola Beach. For the weekend, Barb’s sister, Sue, drove over from Baton Rouge, while our granddaughter Katherine and her Berry College roommate, Molly, came down from Rome, Georgia. Barb’s brother, Greg, lives nearby in Gulf Breeze, so we enjoyed several visits and meals with him as well. The weather and water were perfect. It’s always one of the highlights of our year.
6. Upcoming
- Oct 3, Barb and I will do a 5-K walk to raise money for the Winship Cancer Center at Emory. If you’d like to support our walk, check it out here: Barb and I are Walking for a Cancer Cure: Your Gift Is Doubled This Week
