1. Making lemonade out of lemons concerning our desired relocation
Decatur, Georgia
As I mentioned last month, Barb and I will be moving from Colorado Springs to Decatur, GA (in the Atlanta area) sometime this summer or late fall. However, the real estate market here is very, very slow. We’ve had only two showings in two months. An open house only drew four couples. So, we’re here until we sell, but the weather here has been fabulous, and Colorado is a great place to be in summer.

2. My Visit to The 700 Club on July 4th
I was honored to be selected for an interview about my award-winning book, At First Light: A True World War II Story of a Hero, His Bravery, and an Amazing Horse, for the July 4th Special on CBN’s The 700 Club.
You can watch the ~10-minute interview here. The interviewer was cohost, Terry Meeuwsen, who also interviewed me there in the past, once about 10 years ago, and also about 20 years ago. She was Miss America in 1973 and before that toured with The New Christy Minstrels. She has not aged a bit! I think she did a great job and had read and enjoyed the book.
As a result of the broadcast, the book became a #2 bestseller on Amazon.com:

3. Current Writing Projects
I’m enjoying a new season of writing. First, I’m completing, with the help of my daughter, Kate, a series of online devotions for the YouVersion App:
- “What the Bible Says About … Volume 2 – A 6-Month Daily Devotional” is scheduled for release on 09/01/25.
- “Calling Abba: 30 Days of Bible-Based Prayers (Month 1)” is scheduled for release on 11/03/25.
- “What the Bible Says About Thanksgiving, Rejoicing, Generosity, and Blessings” is also scheduled for release on 11/03/25.
- “What the Bible Says About Christmas – 31 Days of Meditations” is scheduled for release on 12/01/25.
- “What the Bible Says About Advent – 29 Days of Advent Meditations” is also scheduled for release on 12/01/25.
- “What the Bible Says About New Years and New Beginnings – 30 Days of Meditations” is scheduled for release on 01/01/26.
- “What the Bible Says About the Nicene Creed – a 45-Day Lenten Devotion” is scheduled for release on 02/09/26.
- “What the Bible Says About Easter – 30 Days of Devotions” is scheduled for release around Easter 2026.
Second, my agent, Greg Johnson, is shopping three book proposals:

4. Are You Looking for a Daily Bible Reading Plan?
When you just read above about my upcoming release on the YouVersion App, “What the Bible Says About … Volume 2 – A 6-Month Daily Devotional”, you may have wondered, “What About ‘Volume 1’?” Great question.
It came out as a one-year plan on the YouVersion App in April 2024 and is seeing 7,000-8,000 subscribers using it each month in over 100 countries. It has exceeded my hopes and expectations, thus leading to the additional devotionals listed in #3 above. I’m so grateful to be doing this new work. 6. Last Month’s Happenings
- July 4, I was interviewed about my book, At First Light, on a special July 4 edition of The 700 Club. You can watch the interview here.
- I hosted my final monthly men’s ministry meetings in July as well as my weekly mentor meetings with Coach Bob Lord and my monthly accountability meetings with two of my pastors, Bryan Myers and Richard Crabtree. These men have meant so very much to me these last few years. I’ll miss them all terribly.
- We had a wonderful 3-day visit with Don & Linda Twiggs. Don’s a fellow family physician. They live in Florida and have been dear friends for almost 40 years. What fun we had together.
- I guess I’d have to describe this last month as a month of watchful waiting and accomplishing a lot of writing projects (see # 3 above).

7. Upcoming events
- There’s really nothing on the calendar. Barb and I are enjoying what will likely be our last summer in Colorado while we wait for our home to sell. And, I’ll continue working on a number of writing projects.
