We’re in our second of six days in the Republic of Ireland, for the fourth and final portion of our 20-day adventure in Great Britain and Ireland, a trip we’ve always hoped and dreamed we could make one day. We hope you enjoy coming along with us vicariously!
Our day began with a drive from Galway Bay through the desolate rugged plateau known as “The Burren” with its moon-like geological formations.
We stopped to view the dramatic Cliffs of Moher, an impressive wall of rock towering 700 feet over the crashing surf of the Atlantic Ocean. It’s surely one of the most spectacular meetings of land and water we’re ever likely to see!
On our drive, we passed many abandoned castles and ancient houses.
Next, we visited the amazing Bunratty Castle, the most authentic medieval fortress in Ireland, restored to its former splendor and an entire recreated farm village. It was amazing.
Finally, a drive through the picturesque village of Adare with its thatched roof houses to scenic Killarney in County Kerry, with its soaring mountain ranges (the tallest in Ireland), beautiful valleys, crystal lakes and spectacular rugged coastline.
Tonight, we experienced a Gaelic Roots Live Show, which was an exciting Irish show which brought together all that is great about the culture and traditions of Ireland
Wow. Are we ever enjoying this trip of a lifetime. And we hope you’re enjoying coming along for the ride.
