We’re on the second portion, the Scottish portion, of our 20-day adventure in Great Britain and Ireland, a trip we’ve always hoped and dreamed we could make one day. We hope you enjoy coming along with us vicariously!
DAY 3, Wednesday – Edinburgh City Tour
This morning, after a full-Scottish breakfast, we joined a local guide for a city tour of historic Edinburgh. The route took us past the Scottish Parliament, Holyrood Palace, the Museum of Scotland, the Royal Mile, and Princes Street.
We especially enjoyed a visit to Edinburgh Castle, where we saw Crown Jewels, the Royal Palace, and St. Margaret’s Chapel, the oldest surviving building in Edinburgh. We saw a statue and stain glass window dedicated to Mel Gibson …. er, I mean William Wallace.
The balance of the day was at leisure. We had a lovely walk through the old town and through a couple of beautiful parks.
And we had a wonderful visit at the Scottish National Gallery. What an amazing and unexpected surprise. Here’s a picture of two amazing pieces of art — one painted and on created. One is worth several million dollars, but my favorite lady here is priceless.
Tomorrow, we’re off to the Scottish highlands. I hope you can join us.
