Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous

If the offering is a burnt offering from the herd, you are to offer a male without defect. … You are to lay your hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted on your behalf to make atonement for you.

God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering. … The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” … Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.

We have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. … The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. … He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. … For all time one sacrifice for sins.

God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood. … He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. … Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Christ suffered for you … He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness.
