God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers. … But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.

So Christ himself gave … the prophets … to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.

Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is not for unbelievers but for believers. … It is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus.

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit … prophecy. … Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith.

If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
