If you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!
May 27, 2021What can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
May 28, 2021For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.
Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods. … Therefore pride is their necklace; they clothe themselves with violence. … They scoff, and speak with malice; with arrogance they threaten oppression. Their mouths lay claim to heaven, and their tongues take possession of the earth.
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
Rise up, O Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve. … Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” … For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.
