To those who have been called, who are loved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ: Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance. … In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.
There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. … you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do … God, who has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace.
And the God of all grace … called you to his eternal glory in Christ … Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called.
