You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord.

I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with knowledge and competent to instruct one another. … Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. … Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God.

Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. … Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. … And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order to provide for urgent needs and not live unproductive lives. … This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
