Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified … Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin … My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One … If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to us all. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete … For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them … And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another.
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
