Listen Before You Speak – 2
January 2, 2021Think Before You Speak
January 3, 2021… but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil. // Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies.
Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin. // A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.
Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity. // A false witness will not go unpunished, and whoever pours out lies will not go free.
The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy. // For, whoever among you would love life and see good days must keep your tongue from evil and your lips from deceitful speech.
Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.
