His Mercy
December 4, 2020Out of the Mud
December 5, 2020Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: “Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained.
Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. … Declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord.” … Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it. … If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. … Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will test you, and you will suffer. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown. … For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. … These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
