Be Holy

Rejoice in the LORD, you who are righteous, and praise his holy name.

If even the heavens are not pure in (God’s) eyes, how much less mortals, who are vile and corrupt, who drink up evil like water! … If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his eyes, how much less a mortal, who is but a maggot—a human being, who is only a worm! … They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

Who among the gods is like you, LORD? Who is like you—majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders? … There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God. … Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory. … Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.

Just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” … Share his holiness

God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple. … Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives,. . . spotless, blameless. … Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
