Answered Prayer
November 12, 2020Death
November 13, 2020If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.
I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done. The Lord has chastened me severely, but he has not given me over to death. … Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases… The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness. … “I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,” declares the Lord.
In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.” Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, “Remember, Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly. Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah: “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life.’” … This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.
