November 21, 2020I know that you have little strength.
Now, Lord my God, I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties. … “Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”
Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. … Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. For when I am weak, then I am strong. … I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being. … Being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience.
But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength. … I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength.
