November 8, 2020What can stand in the way of my being baptized?
He ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. … Now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name. … Those who accepted his message were baptized. … When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”
John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. … For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. … For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. … I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death. … We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. … Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
