Prayer

The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.

I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me, and what answer I am to give. … Whenever Moses entered the tent … the Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend.

Three times a day (Daniel) got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.

The prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: “Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.” Then the fire of the Lord fell.

So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes. I prayed to the Lord my God. … Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.

And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. … The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
