Manasseh led Judah and the people of Jerusalem astray, so that they did more evil than the nations the Lord had destroyed. … In his distress he sought the favor of the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his ancestors. And when he prayed to him, the Lord was moved by his entreaty and listened to his plea; so he brought him back to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord is God.
You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins. You set aside all your wrath and turned from your fierce anger. … Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.” … When you were dead in your sins, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. … Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin. … As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. … The Lord has taken away your sin. You are not going to die. … Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
