Blessed Assurance – 7
September 15, 2020Atoning Sacrifice – 1
September 16, 2020I, even I, am he who comforts you. … As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.
I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. … Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! … Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. … God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us.
Shout for joy, you heavens; rejoice, you earth; burst into song, you mountains! For the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones. … Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way. … For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses. … In all their distress he too was distressed. In his love and mercy he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried.
For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
