Selfishness – 1

I was enraged by their sinful greed; I punished them, and hid my face in anger, yet they kept on in their willful ways. … They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity.

Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. … In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping. … With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed—an accursed brood!

In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises. He boasts about the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the Lord. … The greedy stir up conflict. … An unfriendly person pursues selfish ends and against all sound judgment starts quarrels. … The greedy bring ruin to their households.

You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.
