July 23, 2020He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” … Was my arm too short to ransom you? Do I lack the strength to rescue you? By a mere rebuke I dry up the sea, I turn rivers into a desert … I clothe the sky with darkness and make sackcloth its covering.
We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. … The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!” … And the power of the Lord was present for him to heal the sick. … He drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.
When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
