Selfishness – 3
July 19, 2020Selfishness – 4
July 20, 2020God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
The man with two tunics should share with him who has none, and the one who has food should do the same.
Then the Lord said, “Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. You foolish people! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? But give what is inside the dish to the poor, and everything will be clean for you.”
All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.
And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?
If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
