Do everything in love … always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving. … Do everything without grumbling or arguing. … In truthful speech and in the power of God … sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. … His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. … Since everything will be destroyed … what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives.
