When You Speak—Edify
January 3, 2020The Source of My Words
January 4, 2020Speak … the truth in love … tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the Lord …
Those … who do what is righteous, who speak the truth from their hearts; who have no slander on their tongues … Whoever does these things will never be shaken.
Kings take pleasure in honest lips; they value persons who speak what is right.
Those who flatter their neighbors are spreading nets for their feet … Whoever rebukes a person will in the end gain favor rather than one who has a flattering tongue … Better is open rebuke than hidden love. Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.
A truthful witness saves lives, but a false witness is deceitful.
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults; whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse. Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you; rebuke the wise and they will love you … speak the truth in Christ … in love.
