Much in every way! … Circumcise yourselves to the Lord, circumcise your hearts, you people of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, or my wrath will flare up and burn like fire because of the evil you have done.
Which made me hostile toward them so that I sent them into the land of their enemies—then when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they pay for their sin, I will remember my covenant with Jacob and my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abra-ham, and I will remember the land. … Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked any longer.
For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the (circumcision) on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed. … In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh was put off when you were circumcised by Christ. … When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins. … The Lord your God will circumcise your hearts, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live.
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
