The LORD, the King (Ha-Melech Jehovah)
September 21, 2019I will proclaim the name of the LORD (Jehovah)
September 22, 2019Our offenses are ever with us, and we acknowledge our iniquities. … For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, you only, have I sin-ned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.
I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you.
Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea. … The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him. … But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
