Chocolate may reduce heart disease, stroke risk
October 7, 2011Study says cohabiting parents do kids harm
October 10, 2011A new study suggests that waiting at least an hour after dinner before going to sleep reduces your risk of stroke by about two-thirds.
WebMD reports, “The study, presented at the European Society of Cardiology meeting, also found that “for every 20 minutes more that you wait, stroke risk drops another 10%.”
American College of Cardiology President David Holmes, MD, said, “When we eat, blood sugar changes, cholesterol levels change, blood flow changes,” all of which “may affect stroke risk.”
Of course, we need to wait to see if this study will survive peer review and be published in a medical journal. But, in the meantime, it makes sense to me to recommend to folks that they eat at least an hour before turning in.
