October 26, 2011The AP reports that “dads are less likely to die of heart-related problems than childless men are,” according to a study published in the journal Human Reproduction.
The Los Angeles Times “Booster Shots” blog reported that in the study, researchers found that “men who had not fathered children had a 17% greater risk of death from cardiovascular disease compared with men who had kids.”
“Even having one child put a man at higher risk – when childless men and men with one child were grouped, they had a 13% increased risk of death from cardiovascular disease compared with men who had two or more children.”
In my books, 10 Essentials of Happy, Healthy People: Becoming and staying highly healthy and His Brain, Her Brain: How divinely designed differences can strengthen your marriage, I discuss the studies showing that, in general, there are many physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual benefits to a man of being married.
