Vaccinating younger children for flu reduces doctor visits
October 20, 2011Tanning beds even riskier than previously thought
October 23, 2011California has become the first state to ban teenagers under the age of 18 from using tanning beds. I suspect there will be more.
The AP reports that Gov. Jerry Brown (D) “announced … that he had signed the bill raising the prohibited age.”
Up until now, tanning bed use was “illegal in California for those 14 and under, but those ages 15-17” could tan with parental permission.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported, “… he bill’s sponsor, said the higher age limit is necessary because the type of radiation used in tanning beds can lead to skin damage and melanoma, a potentially fatal form of skin cancer.”
