IBM working to turn robotic “Jeopardy!” contestant into medical assistant

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports IBM is working to turn Watson, a computer that earlier this year successfully competed on the game show “Jeopardy!”, into a potential medical assistant. “While Watson is only in the early stages of development for use in medicine, IBM says it could help doctors zero in on the correct diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, enable medical providers and insurance companies to agree on which treatments should be covered in different situations, and amass data that could be used to defend medical providers against lawsuits.”
Should be fun to watch this development.

IBM is still surprising when it comes to projects like this.
