Florida measles cases increasing as parents have children exempted from vaccinations

The St. Petersburg (FL) Times reports that so far this year in Florida that this year more cases of measles “have been reported” than in the last 14 years. Why? Parents choosing to not vaccinate their kids … harming both their kids and the kids of others.
Of no surprise to readers of this blog, all but one case involved “an unvaccinated child one to 16 years old.”
Most of the children’s parents had exempted them from state-required vaccinations by citing religious objections to vaccines. However, “medical experts say they think the real issue often is not religion, but unfounded fears of a connection between vaccines and autism.”
