How to Keep Normal Labor Normal – Part 5 – Professional Birth Attendants
October 10, 2009Reason Two to Get the Swine Flu Vaccine – It Will Prevent Death
October 12, 2009Up to 1/3 of Americans who are asked say that they believe the Swine flu vaccine is not safe and/or it has not been tested enough. Nothing could be further from the truth. A front-page story in the Boston Globe reports that the H1N1 vaccine is made with “the same tried-and-true laboratory and production methods used to churn out millions of doses each year against the seasonal strain.”
In other words, the Swine flu vaccine has been prepared the same way as the seasonal flu vaccine is prepared each year.
The paper goes on to say, “And, so far, clinical trials of the vaccine have not turned up any side effects more worrisome than the mild variety.”
In other words, the Swine flu vaccine has been tested the same way as the seasonal flu vaccine is tested each year — and been proven to be highly safe and effective. Period.
Also, USA Today weighed in and added that the H1N1 Swine flu vaccination’s benefits “far outweigh” risks of minor side effects.
USA Today editorialized that the H1N1 flue “strikes hardest at children and young adults” and “almost a third of those who die may be otherwise healthy and robust” when they come down with the flu bug.
Anthony Fauci, the federal government’s top infectious disease expert, called these results (of pediatric deaths) “almost unheard of.” These “trends suggest that thousands of young lives are at stake,” and is “a sobering counter to those who apparently have no use for science, government or vaccines and are warning people to forgo protection against a very real threat.”
USA Today concludes, “The benefits of the vaccine, which authorities say is as safe as the seasonal flu shot, far outweigh any risk of side effects.”
I agree.
